Business Information Services popularly known as BIS was established in 2001, as a project under the Holding Company Business Care Services. The objective of the project was to collect price information and build an online forum where small holder farmers and traders can meet online and do business together.
The main propagation technology was the internet, but since internet was and still not widely available in the remote rural areas, BIS decided to deploy operations through the use of organized farmers, whose groups can act as a front end of information collected by BIS. |
